LAS VEGAS MARKET - TRENDS FOR 2017

LAS VEGAS MARKET - TRENDS FOR 2017

I had the good fortune of spending two days soaking up the latest and greatest at the Las Vegas Market. I have come back inspired and ready to take on the 2017 design trends! Here’s what I see in store for us in the coming year:

Mixed metals are everywhere this season! Gold is still very prominent in the design market and mixing it with silver is very “on trend”. We are seeing gold in bedding, furniture, artwork and most wallcoverings. Pairings of gold with black or charcoal is also a reoccurring theme through the Globalviews, Phillip Jefferies, Noir, Leftbank Art and Arteriors collections. I would say that gold is here to stay for a while!

All metals including copper seem to have a presence this year. Copper and navy is an appealing combination that is evident in Globalview’s accessories section and throughout many of the market displays. I would say in general, that less colour and more metals would keep any household on trend for 2017.

All of the furniture that I saw had cleaner lines and warmer tones. Combinations of steel and wood are being used in many applications, but in a more contemporary way. There is a definite shift towards a warmer, modern style this year and I love it!

Pastels are making a statement in carpet and art for 2017. We are seeing pastels being mixed with plum or navy to make an impact, or pastels being used in contemporary patterns to make a softened statement.  The entire idea of color has definitely taken a backseat at this show. A calm contemporary aesthetic seems to be the best way to go for an appealing look in 2017.
