ALTADORE RENOVATION
Mid Century Move
This project involved a swift yet impactful transformation of an existing home in Altadore, Calgary, Ab, focusing on both functionality and aesthetic refreshment. The client’s primary goal was to reconfigure the front entry closet in order to create a more spacious primary walk-in closet, a change that not only improved daily convenience but also enhanced the overall flow of the home’s main living area. Alongside this structural adjustment, the kitchen received a notable upgrade: the original cabinets were repainted in a fresh, contemporary shade, instantly brightening the heart of the home and giving it a more welcoming feel. To further elevate the interior, all of the walls throughout the house were lightened, a simple change that made the rooms feel larger, more modern, and bathed in natural light.
Situated on a generously sized lot, this property boasts both charm and potential. The solid wood baseboards, a hallmark of mid-century modern design, were retained and highlighted, reinforcing the home’s architectural heritage. To complement these classic details, carefully selected sculptural furniture pieces were introduced. These additions not only pay homage to the era in which the home was built but also help to blend new elements seamlessly with the existing architecture, creating a sense of timelessness.
