Interior Design Show 2026: Trends & Takeaways

Interior Design Show 2026: Trends & Takeaways

•

The 2026 Interior Design Show (IDS) West wrapped up at the end of September, bringing together Canada’s leading designers, makers, suppliers, and artists for four days of installations, product launches, and trend-forward conversations at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

From furniture and lighting to textiles, surfaces, and collectible design, IDS showcased the latest and greatest across residential and contract interiors—perfect inspiration as we move into a season when many of us are ready to refresh our spaces.

Curious what's coming in home trends for 2027? Our favourite finds from the show are below, and you can follow Rochelle Cote Interior Design (RCID) for more in the months ahead. As a Calgary interior design studio, we attend events like IDS West to bring fresh ideas, materials, and emerging trends back to our clients.

1. Cocktails before Cocktails

A Harbour Princess boat cruise was the perfect prelude to the IDS West Party. Hosted by Divine Flooring, Trail Appliances, and CF Interiors, it was a highlight of the week—a chance to connect with fellow designers and suppliers while gliding through the harbour with champagne cocktails in hand. These sponsors truly know how to network with intention and make everyone feel celebrated.

Our project coordinator, Danielle Dodd, and I went together to celebrate a great year at RCID. Some of the sights that we enjoyed along the way.  Even a rainy and cloudy day is nice when you are on the water.

Thank you to Divine Flooring, Trail Appliances, and CF Interiors for the lovely afternoon prior to the IDS West Party.

2. IDS West Party & Showcase

The IDS West Party never disappoints. It’s the one night the conference opens its doors to interior designers, architects, suppliers, and vendors to celebrate the start of the show in style. Think wine, DJs, giveaways, and a room full of exciting exhibits to explore.

Some of my favourite exhibits included a towering 6-foot wooden ball sculpture, the intricate ceiling detail in the lounge area, and glass block reimagined by Blok & Co. in fresh, contemporary ways. The Novin metal doors stood out for their refined craftsmanship, while the Montauk sofa caught my eye with its latest 2027 accent colors.

3. Home Trends 2027

Some of the trends we noticed: color is making a strong return, with maroon (fig) and mustard yellow leading the palette. Soft pink hues paired with gold and brushed brass accents are set to remain popular for another year. The Cloverdale color trends were particularly telling, and it was fascinating to see how these tones echoed through the artwork on display.

Greens and blues are also staying on trend, keeping the calming, outdoor-inspired feel to interiors, while bringing in blush and warmer tones.

Events like IDS West are a great chance to connect with other designers in person, see what's emerging in other parts of Canada, and confirm the interior design trends we've been seeing through our own work.
